Two of My Wishes

Each and every day, new wishes arise in my mind. But there are some wishes which I have been keeping in my mind for a long time. My first wish is to go to the moon as an astronaut.I would prefer to walk on the moon’s surface and visit the hills and craters. I have another wish too. I would wish for a bicycle for myself so that I can go to school within a short time and enjoy the bicycle ride with my friends.

My Favorite Season

There are five main seasons in our state -Spring, Summer, Monsoon, Autumn and Winter. My favorite season is Autumn. As the rain peters out the autumn sets in. The autumn comes as a relief in the wake of the nagging rain. Autumn lasts for one month only -October followed by Winter in the months of November,December and January. Many flowers like ‘shiuli‘, ‘togor‘, ‘kaash‘ and ‘lotus‘ bloom in Autumn. Fruits like the custard apple and water chestnuts and vegetables like cabbages and cauliflowers are procurable. The crowning glory of the season is its procession of festivals.Mahalaya, Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja, Bhatri Dwitiya fill the hearts of the people with high spirit and jubilance .I enjoy this season because of its cool and refreshing weather and the festivals give a welcome break from studies.

My School

I read in Lowada High School. The School is famous for its discipline and good results. The School is four minutes away from my home. I go to school by by-cycle. There are two big buildings in our School. There are thirty rooms, a library, a laboratory,a student’s common room, an office room and a teachers’ room in our office. We have a big playground and a beautiful flower garden in front of our school. There are thirty teachers in my school. They are all highly qualified and teach us well. They are very friendly and helpful .They also encourage us to take part in cultural activities. There are two thousand students in our School. We all obey and respect our teachers. At school, I feel, I am at home.

Frigidity and Turgidity

Frigidity as one of the Vices towards achieving Sublimity   Frigidity is a characteristic that Longinus sees as an enemy of sublime literature. Writers achieve frigidity when, while they "aim at the uncommon and elaborate and most of all at the attractive, they drift unawares into the tawdry and affected." In Section IV of this treatise, Longinus goes into great detail about Timaeus, who was a writer who, in the opinion of Longinus, is a great example of a writer whose work is characterised by frigidity. Timaeus goes as far as to take the examples of frigidity of other classical writers, such as Xenophon, and "clutches it as though it were hid treasure." This expression is based on the following description of Timaeus:                "Who could have done this had he not had wantons, in place of maidens, in his eyes?"   Longinus argues this is a perfect example of frigidity because it states that the eyes are the only way of ...

The Eyes Have It by Ruskin Bond

The Eyes Have It  Ruskin Bond  Q. 1. " Then I made a mistake." - Who made the mistake and what was the mistake. Why did he call his action a mistake? Did he really make a mistake? How did the speaker get rid of his doubt?  Ans :  The narrator in Ruskin Bond's short story "The Eyes Have It" , thought that he had made the mistake.  ◼️The narrator asked the blind girl what it was like outside from the moving train which he later realised was a mistake.  ◼️The narrator and the girl were discussing about the scenic beauty of Mussoorie. As the girl remained silent for a while, the narrator thought that perhaps the girl was thinking him a romantic fool. The narrator was also blind like the girl. He tried to pretend having a good eyesight. In course of the conversation the narrator asked the girl how the outside looked like. Then he realised now the girl would easily deduce that he couldn't see. So to change the topic he made the mistake of asking a foolish question...
